The new Batman movie and a lifetime lesson

If you feel intrigued by the title, I have an odd experience to share with you. I am a very big fan of DC Comics and particularly, Batman. I even went to Islamabad just for a movie. The new batman movie was released on 4th March, 2022. This was a busy weekend because it was the last week before the new semester.

On the day of the release, I couldn’t make it to the movie. I spent the day the university and then with a friend who refused to go for the movie. I planned to go alone for the night show but I got tired and I slept.

I woke up the next morning and I was casually scrolling on my phone. I saw a text for a workshop, “Freewill — Reality or Delusion?” by Naseeha Institute. The topic was not compelling to me. A paid workshop in DHA (almost 35 kilometres) . How I saw it?

500 for a workshop? Or 800 for a movie?
Spending for the sake of Allah or to spending on haraam?

3 hours for a movie or 3 hours for a workshop?

I had no idea about the impact of my decision.

So I ended up at the workshop and I attended it and it was good. I came back. I wanted to pray Isha. I dont remember if I did. I am sure I missed asr and maghrib.

The next day, it was the start of new semester. I woke up around fajr. I am very lazy but somehow had the energy. I haven’t missed fajr. I have missed other salah but never fajr.

I struggled to quit smoking but it happened in 2021. Now I have been praying fajr on time and I feel like its a blessing just because I choose to miss The Batman(2022).

Giving up something you love for the sake of Allah is worth it.

I cannot find the hadith right now but its true that if you take a step towards Allah, Allah will make it easier for you.

The lessons I learned are:

Small things matter (A text could change someone’s life).

Reduce exposure. (Like If I used to smoke, I should try to avoid smokers now.)

Find alternatives. (I wrote another article related to this)

The last thing that I want to say is that I know its very hard to know what someone is going through but I feel like we should invite everyone for Namaz.
Namaz gives you consistency and even if they reject you everyday, please invite them everyday.

I know that helps because I have been in a position when you dont feel like praying but you end up in masjid because of social pressure and that helps.
